I am a Political Science student with a strong interest in public service, leadership, and principled government. Guided by my faith, service experiences, and an appreciation for our nation’s history, I am motivated to contribute meaningfully to civic life. I seek opportunities to learn, serve, and grow while using my research, communication, and leadership skills to act with integrity and make a positive impact.
My Story
I was raised in a home where strong family values were emphasized from a young age. My father taught me that helping others is not something you do only when it is convenient or when you have extra to give, but something you do because it is right. That lesson, reinforced through my faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ, continues to shape my perspective on service, responsibility, and leadership. I am a proud and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and my faith plays a central role in who I am.
I have always been drawn to history and to our nation’s story. Learning about America’s past deepened my appreciation for the sacrifices that made our freedoms possible. I love this country deeply and believe it is the greatest nation on Earth, not because it is perfect, but because it allows ordinary people the opportunity to be involved and have a say in the way they live their lives.
As I entered high school, my interest in history grew into an awareness of politics and civic responsibility. My father taught me the importance of paying attention to what is happening politically, reminding me that many people around the world do not have the same opportunity to be involved in their government. One principle he shared has stayed with me: nobody likes to get involved in politics until it affects the way they live, and by the time it does, it’s already too late. That idea motivated me to pursue a career in political science and become more engaged in public life.
Service has been a consistent theme throughout my life. Becoming an Eagle Scout was one meaningful example of that commitment, teaching me discipline, accountability, and the value of leading through action. One of the most formative experiences of my life was my missionary service in Queensland, Australia, where I learned how to communicate clearly, work with people from diverse backgrounds, and serve with consistency and humility.
At Brigham Young University, I have sought out opportunities that align with my commitment to service and growth. I served as President of the BYU FlexGE Student Council and later as a member of the financial committee for Turing Point USA's BYU chapter, experiences that strengthened my leadership skills and sense of responsibility. Academically, studying political science has helped me better understand institutions, constitutional principles, and the balance between liberty and responsibility.
I am grateful to have successfully obtained an internship in Washington, D.C., an opportunity I see as a chance to learn, grow, and better prepare myself for a life of public service. I remain open to where the Lord may place me, trusting that opportunities to serve will come as I continue to develop and act with integrity. Wherever that path leads, my goal is simple: to serve others, protect the freedoms that make opportunity possible, and contribute positively wherever I am needed.
